Living with Sickle Cell

Empowering individuals and families to live healthy, fulfilling lives with Sickle Cell Disease.

Managing Pain and Crises

Pain crises can occur unexpectedly. Staying hydrated, resting, and keeping warm helps prevent or manage pain. Follow your treatment plan, take prescribed medication, and seek medical care during severe episodes.

Nutrition and Hydration

A healthy diet supports strong red blood cells. Include foods rich in iron, folic acid, and vitamins. Drink plenty of water to reduce the risk of dehydration, which can trigger pain crises.

Emotional and Mental Health

Living with Sickle Cell can be emotionally challenging. Support from family, peers, and counselors plays a vital role. At Nia CBO, we promote open conversations and access to psychosocial support.

Support Systems and Community

You’re not alone — Nia CBO offers support groups, mentorship, and advocacy programs for individuals and caregivers. Together, we create a compassionate and informed community.
